swapping full length consol

okay, so i saw the other thead and started wondering...

how much work is it to swap out the standard consol from my 2006 ranger with the full length variant?

what about the air bag switch?

do all the newer full length consols have a sub in them? that would be a plus, i would like a little more bass, but don't want a sub box cluttering up my cab.

is the rest of the dash (the ash tray and all such things in that neighborhood) still the same, just covered up?

anything else to add?

************
EDIT: i should add that i have an auto trans, and electric shift T case.

Are you talking about a Explorer or Ranger full length?

The airbag switch mounts on the console and everything, it replaces the ash tray and everything. The sub isn't in everyone and you need the special radio to run the factory sub as well. The swap is super easy.

The airbag plugs right in. Only thing is you have to cut the factory tape to extend it further out.

It's easier to just remove all the other factory stuff that way you can make a bracket to attach the new console to the dash

If you can get your hands on these parts circled in red will make it work a lot better. If you dont attach it to the dash with these parts is will want to slide when making sharp turns.

It is kinda like a vent but no air duct connects to it.

Think it's more for the sub that goes in there.

I can't give up my 60/40 because that extra 1/4 of a seat comes in handy sometimes.
