I was thinking "it's easier to mask things rather than break clips to take things out" lol.

I'll have installed pics later. I can't wait to see what it's going to look like.

Wow. What a pain in the ***. I took those pics while it was wet. I went down to the basement a while later to go check on it and the whole top corner had crackled. Arrrgh.

So..I painstakingly stripped the entire thing back down to bare plastic and I have to start all over again. But atleast I know how sweet it's gonna look!

Looks good man. With the metallic paint, you need to wait even longer for the paint to cure. I would honestly wait at least over night til you put it back in. Keep it in a area that stays warm... at least 70* or so over night and put it in the the next night. You'll be better off that way you don't have to be so careful with paint that isn't fully cured.

I told you Mike, it's a lot easier to just pop those things out! It takes an extra minute and you don't have to mask and worry about areas that didn't get paint because of the masking!

lol, well since I had to strip it back down I popped out the vents and the 4wd deely.

I've got the ground coat on and it's drying. I'm not going to have it finished til tomorrow. I was surprised to see the paint crackle like it did, because I used the same process on the tail lights with no problem. Oh well, trial and error.

I'm thinking I pay do the door handle surrounds next if I do anything else.

Alright now it's all repainted and drying and I'm going to hit it with clear in about an hour and let it cure overnight.

I also got my RF stickers in the mail from Beard today so those will be going on the truck tomorrow if it's fairly dry.

I'd wait til tomorrow morning to clear it man. Let the paint set up then clear it. Mixing those two too fast is what caused the cracking

actually,i think what happened was that i painted it in my basement and i had a fan on and the door open. i had it sitting near the door, and the side that was facing theopen cool air is the side that crackled. now it's warmed up in there and it's been sitting curing with clear on it for over an hour and it's okay now. I think before I had also put a little too much clear on at once.

So far everything's looking better this time around.

Out of all the stuff I've ever painted, this is the first major mess up I've had. Always a first for everything.

Where year did that center console out of. I like that extra compartment in front of the cup holders. The only thing is can you have 2 large cups side by side in the cup holders. Would it be interchangeable with the one that I have...

The end result was well worth it. After painting it the first time and having it crackle, then spending over an hour stripping and sanding it down to bare plastic and repainting it, I am definetly happy with it. Couldn't have picked a better colour imo.

Oh,and please excuse the interior being absolutely filthy at the moment. Damn winter.

Now...any ideas for other stuff to paint? What about the cupholder deely around the shifter and my door handle surrounds?

and dammit I want an FX4 LvlII shifter. waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

I would say do the door handle surrounds. I dunno about the cup holders. Is the air bag module cover a seperate peace? If it is I would do that.
