I recently had to replace my window regulator on the drivers side door. while doing so, I noticed that there was a coil type spring as one of the parts. I saw where and how it went, so I thought. well yesterday, driving down the road, it decided to let loose and scare the S$$t outta me. my question is, what is the importance of this spring? I looked at the passenger side and it doesnt have one, not even a place for one.

Any pics of this part and does the window still work wothout it? It could be there just to add some tension so the window opens and closes smoothly

the window still works fine. I'll try and get some photos, it may kinda difficult at the moment, because I havent had the time to pull my door panel off to pull it out.
