Windows are Jumping..
Windows are Jumping..
over the winter my windows started to jump as they move up and down, instead of smoothly gliding up and down like they're supposed to.
i was wondering if there was anythign i could do (besides taking it to a dealer) to fix this.. anything inside the door i could grease or anything like that?? if so, what should i use, where's it at, etc.. thanks guys

Mine did this when it was still under warrenty, it felt like the tracks were loose as hell....they still do, but ford said they just needed greased up, and they havent done it yet (in 20k miles) so maybe they just need some grease!

yeah i went and got some white lithium grease tonight.. popped the door panels off, and sprayed the arm real well, along with both guides inside the door... ran the window up and down a few times, and it's like brand new now. no jumping at all.
the grease will work for a little while but it will start again :(
i had ford replace the runners, motors, and everything else twice along with other work coming out too about 4 times they worked on it. i am now out of extended warranty so i hope it doesn't happen again. after the last time my pass. window moves really slow now and after going down has not wanted to go up a couple of times. i need to solve this problem before i get stuck somewhere with a window down

hopefully nothing like that will happen for me. my friend works at ford and told me to try the grease.. said that' what he would have done (with whatever they have there at the shop though). but yeah, i hope it holds up.. if not, oh well, it wasn't hard at all to do, so i wont have a problem doing it again in the future if needed
My pass side window died today on the way home from work. They both use to "jump". I called the dealer and the guy in service is like "yeah um we're only open for another two hours so could you bring that by monday?" i was like "wtf dude my window is stuck open and it's suppose to rain tonight". In response he said "you could bring it by sunday night if you'd like". Ugh, I think this is the last ford I'm buying. Post-1996 anyway.
