1982 Ford Ranger
1982 Ford Ranger
Hello everyone. I bought a 1982 Ford Ranger on craigslist for $600.00 The main reason I bought it was so I could move some boxes and stuff back to Michigan from Colorado. Well I drove it to MI with a load of stuff, drove it all summer in Michigan then back to Colorado. This Summer I did replace both front tie rods and a front U joint. The truck has barely no paint on it but runs like a top. I am driving it back to Michigan for my final move back. If anyone knows the best oil I should use that would be helpful. I 've been using 10W30. Thanks. The truck has a topper and I think it's a keeper. It has 150,000 miles on it.

Officially the smaller Ford "Rangers" first model year was 1983, production started in 1982, of course, for the 1983 model year
Both the 2.0l or the 2.3l Lima 4-cyl engines were offered, along with the 2.8l V6
Also a 2.2l 4-cyl Perkins diesel was an option in the first years
What engine do you have?
10w30 is a good oil weight to use
Manual or automatic?
The "Ranger" name was used for F-150/250 trucks(full-size pickups) up until 1982, it was an options package and had a Ranger badge denoting those options
Option packages F-150/250
Ranger: Intermediate trim that added a color-keyed floor mat, chrome trim on the door panels, and Rosewood dash and horn pad trim.
Ranger XLT: A step up from the Ranger that added unique seat trim, a color-keyed headliner, color-keyed carpeting, aluminum tailgate trim and full floor to roof trim moldings behind the seat. Also included pinstriping if ordered, synthetic wood, cloth seats and various other interior options.
Ranger Lariat: A step above the Ranger XLT that added a plusher interior, and Rosewood Trim on the door panels that matched the Rosewood trim on the dash. Ranger Lariats also featured special "Lariat" emblems on the cab, as well as special Ranger Lariat script above the radio.
