1986 2.9 wont run

1986 2.9 wont run

Hi I have an 86 ranger with a 2.9. I am getting fuel and spark. I can start it on starting fluid. it runs like crap then dies a few second later

Welcome! the TPS on that year motor seems to be a fairly common problem... i would also check the vac lines to make sure you don't have a leak or broken line

if you can afford it, i would just eather put in a new 2.9 like and 89 and up, or just put a OHV 4.0

welcome....fresh gas,plugs and a strong battery are things you always need to bring a old motor back to life....check all vac lines and fluids.
