Icon5 2000 Ranger lb 2wd motor swap

I have a 2000 lb 2wd flex fuel 108k miles ( that I’m still driving ) lost cylinder 5 and trans takes 5 seconds to engage into D so I bought a 1998 edge extra cab 128k miles with 3.0 that ran and drove but had no brakes or alt., bad h2o pump and a lot of body parts missing. I don’t know the history of it. I use the 2000 as my main transportation. I’m a shade tree mech. But M. Electrician. I’m limited in what I can do because of my physical medical condition. I’ve pulled the motor and trans out of the 98 that were both working but I’ve heard the history of the heads on 3.0’s
I can get a long block from a big distributor for about $1650. That’s been ran and tested with 3 year warranty. I would like to have good torque and hp out of the 2000 maybe headers-tuner etc. I would like some ideas on which way to go ( most hp-torque and reliability ) long block or just build the hell out of the 98?? In return I will b glad to answer any electrical questions necessary !! I’ve been in the commercial-industrial electrical trade for 28 yrs. I have no ac in the 2000 so I’m gonna take it out of the 98 and put it in the 2000 also. Any ideas would be GREATLY APPRECIATED !!
Thanks, Jason
