I'm usually not one to post in the new member area... But thought I would here.


I was at a Nissan dealer doing some training when a guy came in to trade two vehicles for a new Maxima for his new sales job. One of the trades was a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab 4X4 Off Road with the 4.0 engine. I fell in love as I have been looking for one... I almost bought one with 125k miles but backed off it. I saw this truck and was amazed as it looked brand new... Except for one ding on the passenger side rear door. (Which I'll either pop out or take to a body shop.)


I looked at the odometer and thought, "Crap, this is broken... True miles unknown!" I asked the used car manager about it and he said it was actual mileage and I could talk to the customer if I wanted. The guy trading it said that it was recently left to him by his grandfather that died about 6 months earlier. He used to live in Danville, VA and wanted something so he could get out in the snow. He ended up driving it to the store and to church and that was it. The customer said he has a big family and the truck didn't make sense for him... Though he loved the truck.


I immediately told the UCM I wanted it! I paid $7500 for it, which I think is a deal... At least book-wise it is. I would have paid more.


It's bright island blue metallic with the dark gray interior. Last weekend I installed a double DIN Jensen head unit and am working on hacking the code for a custom Ford splash screen when the radio comes on. I'll post some pictures when I have it detailed. (Heck... I'll post one anyway!) But I live 2 miles down a gravel road that is privately maintained... So I doubt it will stay shiny for long.
