2011 Ranger 4.0 with only 8000 Original Miles!

Hey everyone.

Last week I picked up a 2011 Ford Ranger Sport 2x4 with the SOHC 4.0 and 5sp trans. It has crazy low milage. Only 8000 original miles!!! or 13000KM here in Canada.

I've always liked Rangers for their simplicity and no nonsense build. Basically a bare bones truck.

The plans for this truck are really going to be keeping it clean and mostly stock. I come from a lowrider/mini truck background so a mild drop, different tires, and an exhaust may be all it's destined for. That and proper maintenance.

Would you guys recommend switching to full synthetic? this will be it's first oil change since the factory oil I believe.

Thanks and looking forward to contributing and learning a lot here.

-Jacob

Very nice! Good luck with it. I personally just use the Ford synthetic blend that's recommended for it. But it will not hurt if you use full synthetic.

Thanks! I've always used full synthetic in my newer vehicles. I'll do a little bit of trolling around the site and weigh more options. If most have success with the Ford semi synthetic blend I might just stick to that.

Good find, looks like a keeper.

I would check the VIN with local Ford Dealer, quick search shows 1 Recall for Multifunction switch, probably already fixed but costs nothing to check.
And looks like 5 TSBs for other issues, none seem like a big deal, but one was for engine rattle on Cold Start which could be.

Thanks, this one's for sure a keeper!

Thanks for the tips too. I'm going to head to the Ford dealer next week to have the extended warranty transferred into my name. I will have them look up that recall and the TSBs. I haven't noticed any engine rattle though.

I also booked in with Ming Shine co. to do a wax/oil based rust proofing on the undercarriage. I'd like to drive this all year round and Canadian Winters can do harsh things to vehicles. RUST AND CORROSION can take over in no time.
