American Ranger in the UK!

Evening all from the UK, My name is Dan and i am picking up my first American pick up at the weekend.

I've always wanted an American pick up and stumbled across a 98 2.5 ranger here in the UK so I've just had to have it :)

There are a few technical questions I have, its an auto box but unfortunately has some gremlins and will not move in drive or reverse. I will put a thread in the correct section.

Welcome to the forum

You have a 2.5l Lima engine
4R44E automatic transmission

Does it move forward in 1 vs D, if so then the one-way clutch is bad, trans needs a full rebuild

Computer controlled transmissions don't need/use the computer to "go into gear", so not a computer or wiring issue, computer is just used for smoother shifting and best MPG

Thank you for the fast reply, yes apparently it does move in 1 but not in drive.

Just need to find out where the best place is to get a workshop manual and rebuild kit is.

Thanks

I remember people suggesting this manual when I had automatic issues in my 2003. You'll just have to find somebody who will ship it to the UK.
