Another delurker from Ohio
Well, after reading these boards for miscellaneous fixes and entertainment this is it. After a multi-day process to join I am now a member. I'd like to thank those that have put up the technical information so that we Ranger owners have a place to go to get it. I would also like to that the rest of you for the laughs that I got while reading your posts.
I have a 1998 Extended Cab 4X4 Ranger XLT. The mods were mostly done by the previous owner. It has a brush guard with a Warn M6000 (inoperative) winch on it, steps bars that will rust themselves off shortly, and 31" BFG AT tires. I bought this truck to replace my 1995 GMC Sonoma ZR2 that had some serious engine problems. My family has had two Explorers with the same motor and drive train so I figured the Ranger should work out a little better for my needs.
The ranger is my tow vehicle and snow buggy. We get quite a bit a lake effect here so there are days when the Focus just won't move from the driveway. I don't really wheel it because I don't have a lift and am not planning on installing one. I'm content to use the truck to move the 4 wheelers around.
Now, without further ado, here are the pics.

And this is a video where I "modded" the exaust that the previous owner put on the truck to pass inspections.

I've tried getting that guard off a few times. I haven't snapped any bolts, but i haven't been able to move them either. This is what the salt up here does. If we get any warmer days this year I will be taking some spray paint, newspaper, and some sand paper to it as a stop gap.
What you can't see is that under that cap are the tires that NTB mounted on my truck. I had to switch them off my Sonoma rims. Those tires were too small anyways. They were 225/70/R15 and the door calls for 235/75/R15. I work on the West side, the truck is for weekends and snow.
The 'hot carl'. Haha. I can't believe you brought that up Mark.
I've heard it before but wasn't exactly sure what it was. Thank you urban dictionary.
By the way, I'll never be experimenting with the 'hot carl'.
Welcome again, Karl.

But welcome karl, I have a billet grill for your truck thatll bolt right on.
Howdy. Welcome to the site. If i were you, I'd cut that brush guard off the truck and leave it off. If you don't need it or the winch, take them off and get the weight off the front end, they look bad anyway.
I finally got the info from Warn on how to test the winch to see if the problem is with the motor or control box. I've tested the switch on a friends Jeep and it works fine. If the winch works then I'll be keeping it. If not then the whole assembly will be removed. They may not look that good but the push bar has come in handy for moving things before. It wouldn't be so bad if the bumper underneath didn't crumple like tin foil when you apply some force to it.
"Hot Karl"... I was kind of hoping for something more original than that. How about something I haven't heard a hundred times before? I'll just assume that the reason Mark's an *** is because he lives in Parma.
Mark, you should bring that Rhino out to Jeep Skool this coming weekend. There aren't a whole lot of places to ride in Parma and this is a lot closer than going down to Wellsville.
