Another new guy alert
Another new guy alert
I have a 2.9L 86 ford ranger I bought years ago, at least 6 somehow but when I start thinking about it maybe closer to 10. I only pull it out of the backyard once in awhile when I have a pile of garbage to haul. I have done nothing to it except rear brakes in all those years maybe up to 10 years.
lately it had sat for about three maybe four years when I last used it. stuff fell off of it when I drove it out of the back yard. however it started right away after I disconnected the coil and turned it over and lubricated the top end for awhile. It still misses and lurches and but the faulty fuel pressure regulator fixed itself.
I am in the process of making more use of this and it was a mess when I bought it and might be a little worse sitting around. I decided to cure the miss and some of its other ills. I have found mismatched plugs, three really bad wires and cap, wires, rotor heavily arced. That might be the Miss problem it always had. I used up the four year old gas first of course.
The wiring in this was a mess from the day I bought it and had to keep it away from puddles deeper than a half an inch. I figure that because it still starts and runs I am going to fix it up a bit and I might need a little help. By looking at the mess in the engine bay and all the loose wires I have no idea how it runs at all to be honest and while it does not idle well it leaves the line really hard, I am glad that its an extra cab or I would bang my head on the rear window! Time to clean it up and then haul some garbage.
That is why I am here.
