A family truck
Well, it's a strange story. I bought a 1992 Ranger 3.0 back in 1993. It had 5K miles on it. I drove the wheels off it, great truck. In fact I drove it till it reached 197k and the transmission seized doing about 65mph down I65 locking up the rear wheels. I got it skidded over to the emergency lane and called a tow truck. I drive 35-40k per year and I made a decision to get something with lower miles. I gave the truck to my Dad who was still driving his 66 F100 truck. I told him if he could get a tranny it would sure get better milage for running around town than his 66 did. That was in 2000.
Dad actually repaired the transmission and started using my old Ranger to drive around town. He really liked the little truck and no more driving than he did, the high miles wouldn't be a problem.
Withing the past year I lost Mom and then Dad suddenly. My sister and her husband (I only have the one sister) told me they wanted me to take the truck since Dad was so proud of it and it came from me.
So I have my old 92 back. 207k miles, still runs good, uses very little oil, drives real nice and I always think of Dad when I take it for a spin. I still drive 35k or so a year, so it's not my daily driver, but it's handy to have and a good solid truck.

I learned to drive in that 66, 3 on the tree, 4 wheel drum brakes, no power anything. The original 352 was replaced early in it's life with a 335hp 390, that old truck would move out.
The little Ranger needs some TLC in a few areas and that led me here.
Lost the transmission in it that first time due to loosing oil through some plastic plug on the back of the tranny, guess this is common?
