Howdy all! I just picked up my first Ranger this weekend. I needed something else so I can rebuild the 351 in the Bronco and drive to school. She is a 1994 4.0 OHV M5OD-R1 4x4. 270,000 miles. They claimed the engine had been rebuilt not long ago, it runs good for sure, and that the transmission was very new, it does shift very well. I have a couple of issues though. I posted on Ranger Station 2 days ago but no one ever got back to me. I used info on this site a couple years ago to install a lift on my buddies ranger, its good to finally own one myself. I normally just work on Bronco's so its a little different.


Speedometer jumps around by 30 each way: I disconected the cable today and lubricated it, and the gear on the transfer case. Also eliminated the transfer case gear by hooking the cable up to a drill and the speedo still bounces around like crazy once you pass 40.

No cruise control: related to the speedometer or a VSS thing maybe?

Motor jumps up hard when accelerating, a lot in 5th gear: I ordered new mounts, never done them before though.

Power steering leaks super bad: may just have to replace the pump or lines? They left a bottle of stop leak in the back to help until then.
