Good Day Gentlemen,

I am T Bob Trasman.

Richfield NC (thriving mega-tropolis) is my home. I have a 1971 Ford Ranger F-100 w/302, 3 on the tree, arm-strong steering, by Ford truck. It even has the FM radio add-on under the dash. It is in pretty good shape. Almost no rust, all the trim is in place, and the paint is dead but whole. No rust through on the bed. A small blistering behind the right front wheel. All the gauges work and all the lights.

I am looking forward to discussing life with a 40+ vehicle.Unfortunately I CAN remember when these trucks were new. (heavy sigh) I would like to put power steering and auto transmission on it to make it more user friendly. Any and all input and info will gladly be accepted and appreciated.

The odometer says 78K and I am the third owner. The first held the truck for 4 years, the second owner held it until 2008 when I bought it from his estate. I guess someone will buy it from mine in the distant future.... I hope.

The Current project is replacing the water pump. A simple straight forward project ... until the first bolt rung off. Thankfully it was the only one. I will try to finish this in the AM. It seems the bold is expanded into the hole and I can't (easily) slide it off the new stud I just created. So I will remove the radiator just as a safety measure and begin working it off without screwing any gasket surfaces up.

Sounds a precious one with very low mileage. Welcome! Do you have pics to share?

Icon14 No pics at the moment.

No but I will get aroung to taking some just for the forum.

I just finished installing a new water pump. Only created one stud while removing the mounting bolts. And that came out with a small pipe wrench. The bolt had swelled to jam itself in the pump body and not the timing chain cover or the block.

I even remembered to place a piece of plywood against the radiator. (not that I have ever had a reluctant water pump pulley come loose suddenly and discover green water.

I only had one leak after I was done. It seems the engine vibration, the rotation of the earth, or something caused the pump end of the by-pass hose to come loose. I mean, that's more likely than I forgot to tighten it, right?

Well Now it's sitting there waiting to be fed and exercised...
Hey? is the little sticker on the license tag supposed to be "14"?
