Good to be here.
Hey Everyone,
Nice to meet you all, and good to finally be here.
The names Ned, and I'm based just outside of Cape Tow, South Africa.
Just a little bit of background.
I, semi-recently (2 years ago) bought a 2007 4L v6 XLE (2WD) from my brother.
Its taken a while, but I'm finally at a point where I need to seriously look at fixing the many little problems that my Ranger has.
Ive done a bit of work on it so far, (I'm certainly no mechanic, but its time for me to learn) although I've not done too bad up until now.
That said, I have minor issues, and what seem to be 'heading' for major issues that I'd like to preempt.
To date, Ive managed to replace the instrument panel, had a bit of work done on the suspension / steering, replaced the tires, and one or 2 other things.
I recently did a small service on it (excluding plugs) so just fuel, oil, and air filter changes, and oil change.
It was then when I realized just how badly (whoever the mechanic was) maintained / left the vehicle.
Theres quite a few pipes that have been cut / left open, some blocked off, and some (not sure if its a sensor) rerouted into the air intake, where a pipe (I imagine from the oil system) was meant to be.
The more I look, the more things seem to be Jerry rigged.
I also managed to fix a persistent oil light, seems the wire leading to the oil sensor had broken off, and had clearly been very poorly re-attached previously, no doubt by above-mentioned mechanic, or one of his guys.
so I'm really glad to finally be here where I know there's a mountain of knowledge.
So, Thanks for having me.

Lol, you can say that again,
He cared nothing for his vehicles, I bought the ranger because it stood outside his house for almost 2 years, without being driven once. That, in a tiny coastal town.
So it was in a shocking condition when I got it.
