Hello fellow Ranger lovers.
Hello fellow Ranger lovers.
Hello everyone. New here, I am on my 3rd Ranger. Currently own, just purchased a 2003 Ranger 2.3 auto for $1K so I will be on here often seeking knowledge and answers to many question I know will arise. Currently the transmission slips in drive but not overdrive and some in reverse. I am debating on a 5.0 swap with a five speed or weather to rebuild the 2.3 and trans and go with a $2k electric supercharger kit with 5lb of boost? Just looking to have a little fun tinkering and getting places a little faster!
Looking forward to meeting you all and feel free to offer your advice.
Thank you

I am sure you know that Rangers used 2 different 2.3l engines
1983 to 1997 2.3l SOHC Lima engine
2001-2011 2.3l DOHC Duratec, Mazda L, engine
A just in case since they are quite different
Your 2003 2.3l Duratec has IMRC and a heated thermostat, both were dropped in 2004 model year and increase horse power by 8, 135hp to 143hp
"There is no replacement for displacement"
But boosted 4cyl engines also get better MPG than higher displacement engines when just driving around town
So the decision is more of a what you will use it for long term
