Hello from Iowa

Thought I would post up and say hello.Just picked up the second ranger I have owned. Bought a 1992 ford ranger 4x4 last weekend, it is a standard cab long box with a 4.0 and an automatic. The rear drive shaft ujoint had broke and had damaged the yoke on the drive shaft, found out that there was not a used one in the state. Ended up having a local shop cut the end off and weld on another one. Drove it home locked in four wheel drive with just the front axle. The front axle would make a popping sound when the steering wheel was turned, discovered that the ujoint on the front axle shafts were shot. Since buying it i have replaced the rear drive shaft, brakes, axle shaft ujoints, and headlight switch. I will post up some pictures tomorrow when i can get some pics in the daylight.

Thanks, i am planning on building a custom bumper and grill guard for the front of it. We get off work early in the morning and see lots of deer.

^ I bought that ranger for $50 because it had the same driveshaft issue. I had the same problem no one had one in a junkyard, After calling about a thousand yards I finally asked a guy from one yard why it was so hard to find a shaft from a pretty common truck around here and he told me it is because they bend them with the fork lift when they moved the trucks from the flatbed to the yard. I ended up paying $100 to have the broke driveshaft fixed

It ended up costing me 108 with ujoints labor and the yoke. Oreillys sold one but it was for a short box and mine is a long box. Plus there is only three years that will interchange 90-92.

Sorry for the delay finally go some pictures of the ranger, and also noticed that it has a common issue the leaf springs are not attached to the frame in the rear any more. Ranger Pictures pictures by juni88126 - Photobucket
