Hello Ranger Brothers and Sisters
Hello Ranger Brothers and Sisters
Hello All,
I just joined the forum and look forward to sharing my trials and likely fails along the way. I bought the 2005 ford ranger 2.3 5 speed single cab new and have taken very good care of it. It is possible that I overdo it but with this vehicle you can do that as parts are cheap enough and it is easy enough to work on. I usually have another vehicle to perform car duties and I think this is where this truck shines. It is a basic little truck. It is not a car nor is it comfortable. I do enjoy driving it as you can feel the road and I don’t like driving fast anyway, this truck is so slow.
It has 100K and I am going through the truck to get it in near new shape.
Recent work that I performed
· Rebuilt driveshaft and balanced
· Rear brake pads, rotors and wheel cylinders
· Differential fluid change
· Transmission fluid change
· Replaced large hoses and replaced fluid
· Spark plugs and wires
· Inner and outer tie rods
· Upper and lower control arms
· Replaced shocks (Bilstien HD)
· Bled brake fluid
· Replace serpentine belt.
· Air filter replacement
· Fuel filter replacement
Planned work
· Replace front brakes, rotors and bearings to resolve pulsation while breaking
· Replace headlight lens due to oxidation
· Bleed clutch master cylinder (to hopefully resolve issues getting in 1st gear issue)
· Replace PCV
Work being considered just for preventative maintenance (Opinions welcome)
· Water pump, thermostat, fan clutch (I live in Phoenix)
· Serpentine belt tensioner and pullies
· New radio with Bluetooth
· Upgrade to HID or LED headlights
Thanks for welcome and look forward to the forum.

Great list of work, having recently purchased my first truck that has 120K on it, will probably use this as a template for items to do as well.
I did, however already replace the head unit, you can see details in my post in the "what did you do today" thread.
