Hello from Tennessee

Thank you for allowing me to join. I have a 2006 Ranger XLT 4liter extended cab automatic 4x4. Looking to install a V-8 and standard transmission. Not worried but emissions testing, not done where I live here in Tennessee.

Welcome to the forum

Can be done just a little more complicated on 2004 and up Rangers because of the HEC digital dash and the SJB body computer

I would look for a 2000-2003 Ranger 3.0l/4.0l 4x4 with good body but bad engine or trans, to do this to, and a 1996-2001 Explorer V8 as the donor

The explorer used the 302(5.0l) V8 in those years that fits in the Ranger engine bay, only 19" wide, later model V8s with OHC are too wide

You can use the manual trans M5OD-R2(M5R2), from a 1997-2003 F-150 with 4.2l V6, 4x4 if you need, the 4.2l V6 in those years has same bolt pattern as the 302 and shifter is in the same place as Rangers M5R1 manual trans
