Hi! My name is AJ and I just joined the forums! I currently own a 2005 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab with the 4.0L SOHC V6 engine and 4x4! This is my first truck and I love it! It only has 71,000 miles surprisingly and is in good shape! I need to fix the paint and bed, and I am putting new rims and tires on soon! I'm excited to learn more about my awesome truck and all the tips you guys can give me! This will be my daily driver so I will be making this cool and functional! Thanks, AJ.

2005 Ranger is a good year.......well all the years are really

Your 4.0l SOHC will have the newer timing chains but still pay attention for a startup "rattle" noise

2005 was the last year for the sometimes faulty 4x4 module, 2001 to 2005 were the years those liked to fail

You have an HEC dash, hybrid electronic dash, 2004 to 2011 Rangers
Has some cool test functions

Ranger have a good track record, tend to last a long while is fluids are change when they should be

 

I have a 2wd 1998 Ranger that I'm doing the 302 / C4 swap, 8.8 rear end, etc.

Collecting info, learning what works/ what doesn't...lol

I have replaced the stock 2.5 mounts with new 4.0 mounts, and just received the V8 swap plates.
