Hi from three time ranger owner
Hi,
I have owned three rangers in my life, beginning with a 1983 long bed regular cab 4x4 with a manual and 4 cyl engine. My parents bought it from a used car dealer and gave it to me as a full time driver when I moved to college. In HS, I just drove one of the various rigs that my dad kept around so I always had something to drive, but nothing of my own. I traded that in after a couple of years and bought a new 88 super cab 4x4 manual with a 4 cyl (from Garnsey Wheeler in Greeley Colorado), a graduation present to me. I was living outside of Seattle when that one needed replacing (I needed more HP than the 4 cyl provided) and bought a 95 4x4 with the 4.0 and manual, again from Garnsey Wheeler (bought it over the phone) and sold the 88 to my father. The 95 still is in service with me and I get notes on it routinely asking me to sell it. It sits in front of the house and has 134K on it and I use it for an extra vehicle and to haul things. I've rarely needed more hauling capacity than the ranger could provide and they are nice to maneuver compared to a full size truck. I found this forum by searching for solutions to technical issues with my truck and am very happy it exists as it is a wealth of knowledge. I will try to research issues before posting as many questions have already been answered.
