Howdy howdy

Just to preface this im 18 this is my first vehicle with 4 wheels i do not know everything by any means but i have been tinkering on cars my whole life so i know somethings. So i bought a 92 ranger with a m5od transmission. Guy said it ran when parked but shes not starting anymore. So i pulled the bed replaced the fuel pump tried to start it and the fuel pump still not working. So i replaced the relay for the pump still nothing. I found out the relay wasnt getting the signal from the eec to switch. So i got a new eec put it in and still nothing. She just keeps on cranking but no start. She will start if ether is sprayed into the intake but once thats run dry she’ll shut off again. I believe its a wiring issue. But does anybody have any suggestions before i go replacing a chunk of copper? I know this was long. Thank you for your time

Question is are you getting fuel to the fuel rail? Somewhere on the fuel rail where all the injectors are should be a Schrader valve (looks like a valve stem for your tires), Not sure what the exact pressure should be on these, but that's one of the first places to start. If it fires with ether, then it's getting the command to spark, so ya know it's got fire. Obviously it's getting air if the ether is making it in, so that leaves fuel. An LED test light from say Advance Auto (glows red and green, and is around $20 or so, not cheap) will tell you if the injectors are getting the fire command. Can't remember if you ground your test light or put it on the positive terminal ... /ponder, but either way, as it's being cranked if you back probe it or even take one of the wires off the injector and put the probe in it, it'll flash when it gets the signal to activate. If you don't see any flashing, then you've got an electrical issue... If it flashes, you've got a fuel delivery issue which goes back to "whats the fuel rail pressure" ...

Might want to consider too posting this query in a more proper forum here, since this is the "introduce yourself" forum :)

Good luck!!!
