New to the whole Ranger scene in NC

Well I guess I can start with a quick run down on me and my new (well if you can call it new) ranger.

I am Skyler. I'm an Airframes/Hydraulics Mechanic on the AV8B Harrier at Cherry Point, NC, and if you couldn't figure it out I am a Marine. I love my job, been doing it for 6 years now, the greatest benefit is getting extra stuff for my projects: spare nuts, bolts, hydraulic line, supplies (paint guns, metal, rivets, shop towels, hand cleaner) and many other things for free.

I have been in the automotive thing for a while. I am what you call the all around mech. Anything from lifted jeeps, to lowered S-10s, and of course all the in betweens including All-Wheel Drive DSMs, Drift 240s, 1st/2nd Gen Rx-7s and my buddies drag honda, well he used to be!

Here is where I get to my truck and my plans. Well I being the first son of three got to chose my fate. Got my own job to buy my first car (an 82 Mazda RX-7). To joining the military cause I thought I would just party away college. So my brother being only 2 years behind me, never got a job, my parents gave him everything. He decided he wanted to go to college, they payed for that, and even bought him a truck (a 1990 Ranger). Well 3 years into college he decides to drop out, my parents even let him move back in. He then after a year of living with them, decides to join the military! My parents now said since he is going on his own he doesn't get to keep the truck. So finding this out(and needing a daily driver) I said I would pay for it. I mean they got it for like $1000 about 4 years ago, maybe longer. And my dad tells me that I can just have it! I wondered why?

The great part(being sarcastic): I don't have to pay for it! But the interior smells like its been an ashtray for the last 4 years, the front valance has been ripped off, the rear bumper is dented in where he backed into a pole, the bed has dents all over it, and there are broken latches, clamps and nuts/bolts everywhere. Did I mention he is on his second motor, 3rd clutch and is riding on his spare.

My goals: to clean the entire truck from top to bottom. Do a full and complete tune-up. Change the red interior to all black. Switch the 60/40 seat to a 40/40 with center console. Do the 3/4 DJM kit on some 18" American Racing Shelby Torq Thrust wheels. Then eventually get the truck painted.

That's it for now!

Yeah, I haven't really had a chance to take pics. My brother is still using it to run back and forth to work, and all the recruiters. He is leaving for the Army at the end of this month. I will get some pics up by this weekend! If I don't have to work.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, I have been on a few other forums, (nothing to do with Rangers) mostly Imports. And all it seemed like was an "EGO" Measuring contest. Mostly those who had the most money, obviously had the most performance or more done with their vehicle. So its nice to finally have a clean forum where everyone is pretty much on the same level!

And anyone near me who has any input as to an easier way or the better parts to use, or just wants to come turn some wrenches let me know!

Well here are some pics, so the only thing I was wrong about was when he backed into the pole he didn't do any damage but that is the least of the damage. I will go over everything as I show the pictures. the tool box isnt really bolted down, the tail gate is broken, and well the rest you can see.
my brother looking at the parking brake cable after i mentioned it was hanging off the truck
