Just picked up our third Ranger

We like these little trucks. I owned and 88 4x4 and my son had a 95 2WD in the past. I just picked up a 96 2WD 2.3 for pretty much nothing. It came with a bed full of trash, a flat front tire, and some lighting issues. We're going to have us a little fun with it while turning it into a reliable hauler.

Welcome to the forum

Those 2.3l Lima engines were reliable
It has dual spark plugs for extra power, both spark plugs fire at the same time, no alternating or there would be no point in having dual spark plugs, lol

This means you should unplug one coil pack, 3 wire connector, and start the engine, should run smoothly, if not then one of the plugs or wires on the working coil pack is bad
Then do same test using other coil pack
This is the only way you can tell if one spark plug has failed, lol, otherwise you just have less power than you should and won't have a clue until BOTH spark plugs have an issue
