Long time owner; First time exploring options
Hello, folks!
My name is Sean, and like many on this forum, I came seeking the infamous coilover brackets to get rid of my dastardly torsion bars! I have an '04 Ranger Edge, manual 5 speed, 3.0 V6, 4X4 that I've had some fun with, but its time for me to venture into the realm of greatness and learn more about making my Ranger better than she ever dreamed of being. I appreciate forums like these and look forward to learning more about my daily mobber. I just bought a home in the Southern California mountains and have more trail than I know what to do with, but since she's a daily driver, I gotta be careful... Or so they say... Anyway, pleasure joining up and hope to gain some new knowledge. Thank you,
Sean

Welcome to the forum
Might be time to look at a daily driver and a trail driver
To try and build one vehicle to do both means it will do both moderately, won't be "good" at either
A barely street legal trail driver wouldn't be great to drive down the freeways every day, or economical, lol
And a daily driver will be shaken apart on trails over time, and you still have to get to work to pay to fix it, lol
You can pick up modified for off-road Rangers for pennies on the dollar spent on the off-road upgrades, then do your own changes as time and funds permit
Or get a 4cyl 2WD Ranger for a DD

Hey man. Thanks for the advice. I’ve been thinking about that, for sure. In fact, my wife and I have been talking about picking up an economically friendly commuter. It’s tough though, because I still need AWD for the mountain, but desire something better on gas. It’d be a lot of fun to be able to pick my Ranger apart and chip away at all the upgrades I’d like to do. Especially the coilover conversion! So, yeah... I’m definitely leaning toward getting into a “pennies on the dollar” vehicle for the commute. It’s a hard balancing act to have an “all in one” rig, but I’m not really trying to build something at the top tier of crawling, but I agree with you 100%. You’re definitely not the only one giving me such advice... Haha... Thanks again.
