I just purchased a 90 Ranger XLT Extended Cap and need a 5 speed manual transmission. The big issue that I am having is that everyone is asking if it is a Mazda or Mitsubishi. I have no idea and do not know how to tell. They say crawl up under it to see however I am disabled and cannot do that. Is there a different way? Also does anyone know where I may find a transmission for it? I am not looking for anything fancy because I plan to change out the motor and transmission later on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

to be honest, I would possibly just do a motor and transmission swap now, and save the trouble.. anyways, welcome.. check craigslist, ebay, and junkyards for a transmission. someone should know what transmission it is here..
