My first post on the Forum... Howdy!
I'm new to the forum. I guess this is where I am supposed to introduce myself. So here goes.
I live out here in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. I am 78 years old and a retired copier/networking technician. I have several hobbies, but the main one is camping in the High Sierra mountains with my sons. Our first trip this year will be on June 16th.
I have a 2010 Ford Ranger 4X4 with a 4.0 engine. I use it often to tow my popup camper trailer up in the high Sierras for camping trips. I had a 2007 Ranger with the 3.0 engine for several years. But then one afternoon some teenage kids without driver's licenses decided they wanted it more than I did. How they got a key made for it I'll never know. The end result was a completely totaled truck when they tried to outrun a patrol car. They rolled my truck twice and ended up crashing into a building without getting hurt. The good part of this story was that my insurance assisted in getting my 2010 Ranger.
My only question for the Forum is about my Overdrive light on the panel. It has not worked since I bought the truck 4 years ago. No light ever! The overdrive does work though. The only way I can tell that I am in or out of Overdrive is by watching the tach. As expected, it jumps up when I take it out of O/D and goes down when I put it back in O/D. So I know the transmission is working properly. Just no indicator light. I suspect the problem might just be a burned-out bulb in the panel. But before I go so far as to pull the panel out, I thought I would ask for advice here. Does anyone have any better suggestions?
