Need helppp!!
Need helppp!!
hello new here hope someone might be able to send me the right direction with my truck 99 2.5l I'm at a wits end with the the truck never overheated it but figured I'd replace water pump, therm, and radiator it had had a minute leak.anywhoop prob started with a fuel pump I thought but ended up being a short in the system while doing that I got a good deal on new injectors so did plugs, wires, whole enchalada.well still didn't run right parked it. Worked on my other car ,go back to truck now code says not warm enough to operate in closed loop operation forgot aluminum race type radiator, but now after starting and running maybe 5min it starts to smoke alot not at first but 5m later so I put original injectors back by now but the smoking is unreal doesn't smell like oil or fuel or coolant so I give compression test all right at 150 155lbs holds it for at least 10m didn't wait any longer, then did the test with oil in cylinder all about same it didn't go up no drastic change or at all in compression. Pulled o2 and about 5min after smoke starts coming from there and tail pipe. Doesn't stop smoking what could this be thank for any help or answers!!!!!!.

Please post exact codes if you still have them
Partial Ford Code list here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...trouble_codes/
Many codes are similar definitions but mean quite different things, so EXACT codes are needed
Engine is running Rich after warm up, could mean the Choke is still on, that's kind of what "code says not warm enough to operate in closed loop operation"
Its good compression is even across all 4 cylinders
Radiator can cause overheating but never overcooling, engines have a thermostat that won't circulate coolant thru the radiator until coolant has been heated above 190degF, in upper engine
So I would say to new thermostat is bad, east to test for that
Start cold engine, let it idle
Feel upper radiator hose and Heater hoses, both cold of course
Turn on heat in the cab
Wait a minute or two, feel upper rad hose and heater hoses
Heater hoses should be warming up
Upper rad hose should still be stone cold, if its also warming up then thermostat is stuck open, replace it, correct temp for thermostat is between 190-195degF

P1000 just means battery was disconnected it will go away on its own
P0125 Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control
Either ECT sensor is bad or thermostat
P0135 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
?? no P0141 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)??
If not the check the wires on O2 sensor closest to the engine, it wires probably touched exhaust pipe and melted
You will see it
If you have both P0135 and P0141 then fuse 13 in engine bay fuse box is blown, you can still check it
P1401 Diff Pressure Feedback EGR Circuit High Input
Most likely the DPFE sensor is bad, these fail after 5 years or so
None of these codes, except P0125, should effect operation, so either bad ECT sensor or bad thermostat
If your exhaust has grey smoke then it would also have a Rich code(P0172 System too Rich (Bank 1))............if upstream O2 was working, the P0135 code means its not working
You will not hurt Cat converters with a few days of smoke thru the exhaust, if so then they were already bad
