I just purchased a 2011 Ranger 4x4 with auto transmission. I had the dealer install a neutral tow kit on it so I can tow it behind my motorhome. It seems that there is a problem with the neutral tow. The indicator light does not always stay on after I have put it in neutral tow mode. Sometimes it will stay on for about 15 seconds, other times it will stay on until I take it out of neutral tow. The service rep at my dealer agrees that I have a problem, but hasn't been able to find a solution. Does anyone have a Ranger with neutral tow or know someone I can contact at Ford about my problem?

Hello everyone, I have a 2021 Ford ranger Lariat 4x4 with the feature of neutral tow, I am currently a RV traveler and we use the ranger as our tow car. I have a little over 16000 miles on the truck and we went on a week long trip and upon returning home as I was unhooking the truck i proceeded to take the truck out neutral tow and it didn't have any response, I then tow the truck to my local ford dealer where upon examination discovered that the transmission had not gone into neutral tow and it destroyed the transmission, Ford has denied my warranty claim stating it as OE, I have towed this truck for over 6000 miles with out any issue and I know that I had put it into neutral tow.
My question is how many people out there have had this same Issue?

I have read at least 4 posts about this but on earlier years, 2019-2021, Ford did warranty and replace the transmission, and I think transfer cases, in all cases
They may have updated the software to make the Flat Towing more robust after 2021 but don't know
If I remember correctly these all were caused by transfer case coming out of Neutral while being towed, so they did shift into Flat towing mode but then failed to stay in that mode
So not a user error

There are a few terms used by RVers for flat towing, maybe Google some of those to find posts about the failures
