Last week I picked up my first Ranger after not having a truck for about 17 years and I have to say I'm more than happy with it. My boys (5yo and 8yo) name all of our vehicles and this one is Green Bean. Green Bean is a 1998 4x2 3.0 V6, with 117,000 miles but only 52,000 on the engine which was a full long block replacement at the dealer. Repainted about 5 years ago and has never been out of FL so rust is at a minimum. I purchased this from the original owner, an 88 year old gentleman who just didn't use it any more (he put ~3K miles on it in the last 5 years) and it is the cleanest 20 year old truck I have ever seen. IMO good deal fro $4,000.
First thing to do is, since I will have to replace the old tires anyway, get some 15x7 wheels and get a little taller rubber under there. I'm a moderate "car guy" with some BMWs and and old Corvette and have always gotten great use out of the enthusiast forums. I've been looking around here and am excited to do some research and take advantage of the collective knowledge around here!
