new from Texas

Hey all, Im Mike from Texas. Im 44 and I am working on several Ranger related things. I am working on my Brothers 2000 Ranger stepside.

I make parts but not too much about that. I dont want to be advertising without the ok.

Ive been into the truck scene since the 1980s and Ive been building bagged and dropped trucks since about 1984 or so. I have had shops where I did bag jobs, body drops, suspension, bodywork etc so I decided to join to help others with the experience I have.

Yea thats me. I have a drop spindle under development right now. Ive cut a stock one and made a jig then started back building the new one. Ive used AR500 armor plate for the filler pieces. They will be tested on my brothers 2000. We have one installed now looking at the suspension up, down, ride height and seeing what clears. So far we have found no issues. The next step is locating the steering stops and finishing the pair. This truck has 22s on it and will have a 2&5/8" Z and some tube arms. We pulled the DJM uppers off and made some tube arms. Then we installed the new ones with the DJM lowers to make sure they work ok. Then we put the stock lowers on. Now we are doing the new tube lowers and we plan to check them with the stock uppers, then the DJM uppers then the DHP uppers. The other side has the stock spindle to check the differences.

Welcome Mike!

BTW I'm still loving the cross member, but I had to un-flip the tie rods, couldn't align out the bump steer.

Ill keep that in mind when I weld on the steering points on the drop spindles Im working on. Ill need to keep them as close to the same as stock.

You guys asking about my projects just look at the two Rangers on my site. I am also working on my brothers 2 Rangers. Ones an 04 edge and the other is an 00 Bagged ex cab on 22s. IT hasnt had the frame Zd yet. It does have a step notch that looks like some drunk welding school dropout installed. I may be able to buy this truck for my stepson who gets his license in a month.

If I do buy it Im gonna Z the frame, install some DHP tube arms, a DHP trans xmbr and fab up a new 4 link and a watts link for it. Then Ill have to put these drop spindles on it to lay the 22s.

If I dont get to buy this truck Im gona get my stepson a 93-97 and replace the Ibeams with a tube arm conversion.

Im gonna be to the Ranger what Jason is to the S-10....lol

Mike, if any of those rangers have a 4.0 and you want something different, I have a 700r4 tranny conversion kit that will fit them.

I mean, unbolt or cut the rivets off the 93-97 engine crossmember and bolt in a new crossmember that has mounts for tube arms and uses Toyota or S-10 spindles. Im developing this as a kit. I have a bare frame Im working on.

did you mean a 700r4 kit that mounts it to the 4.0?

yes. Its from advanced adapters. I installed it on my 4.0 SOHC and never got the tv cable adjusted right. I swapped my manual tranny back in. They have the adapter to hook cable up to a OHV 4.0. More recently, TCI came out with a constant pressure valve body that only uses TV Cable for rpm shifts, not pressure.

You know the assortment of floor shifters available for that tranny. Almost endless. Not to mention how cheap the trannies are to get or repair.

Theres a trans guy I know that knows how to do that with a spring and a rod. anyway that sounds interesting.

Ill have to see which engine is in these trucks.

Ok we just got back from picking up another Ranger for my stepson. he will be 16 in two months.

Its a 1994, reg cab 2wd. it has a step notch but no bags, front coils cut, right door shaved, tailgate shaved, gas door shaved and its flat black primer and not straight at all. The good thing is that it runs really well. it needs some work but for the price its a deal.

Im gonna bag it with a parallel 4 link in the back and a watts link. Id like to use the stock hangars or make some kind of bolt on setup. Im wondering if the hangars and mounts on this I beam 1994 Ranger are the same as the 1998 up Rangers?

If so Im gonna make a kit. if not I may have to make 2 seperate ones.. but I digress

The front Im going to do the conversion on and not sure what he want to do about the body.

anything I need to look out for on this truck. most of my Ranger experience is on 98 up trucks. I had a 93 but all i ever did was drive it.
