New Guy on R-F

Hey, I'm Alex from Michigan. I have a 2000 Ranger DWB Extended Cab Flareside that over the past year I have put a 302 V8 in it from a late 70's Ford pickup. It also has a manual transmission (WC T-5). I love working on cars, i'm also into hunting, fishing, dirtbiking, pretty much anything outdoors. I'm not new to forums, i'm over on FRF under the same username, just thought i'd join here too.

Do you have any specs of your current setup?

How difficult was the swap with the 70's v8?

It was sooo much more work than I thought it was going to be, many modifications such as custom motor mounts, rad mounts, etc. Had to convert the clutch pedal to pull a cable as opposed to the stock push down for hydraulic. Alternator wiring, coil wiring, choke wiring, etc was all done by me. It has a holley 600 carb on it.

About the truck: This truck started out as a 2000 Ranger 2WD 3.0L 5 Speed Manual Flareside Extended Cab that I bought in 2010 at Suburban Ford in Sterling Heights, MI. I pulled the motor and trans at 149,513 which is where the odometer currently sits. When i pulled the motor, i herculined (roll on truck bed liner) the whole engine bay to prevent rust, also the bed has been lined with herculiner, and i left all the wiring intact so all of the trucks electric system (headlights, brake lights, radio, horn, wipers, etc) works just as it should.

About the motor: The motor i had built is a 302 block bored .30 over to a 306. It now has brand new Speed Pro .30 over 10:1 compression pistons, a brand new Speed Pro .474 lift cam. All brand new internal parts, rods, crank, valves, etc.

Nice! Sounds like a lot of work. Good job!
Post up some videos and pictures when/if you get a chance.
