New here with inherited pristine 2008
I have recently inherited a Pristine 2008 Ranger XL, 2.3L Stick. I just ordered a LoadHandler (3000 pound version) to protect the bed from scratches as I intend to use it to haul. Being in South Texas I just had to have a pickup!
Welcome to the forum
2008 Ranger will have the 2.3l DOHC Duratec engine, Rangers also had a 2.3l SOHC Lima engine from 1983 thru 1997, totally different engines, so Google searches using Ranger 2.3l will get conflicting info
You have an M5OD-R1(M5R1) manual trans, it uses ATF NOT gear oil like most manuals, Mercon V is spec
You can get the PDF version of your owners manual here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/
Easier to search thru, also has fuse and relay diagrams
You can get a 2008 Ranger brochure here: https://www.therangerstation.com/art...ger-brochures/
To see whats included with an XL and maybe extra options

Thank you for the engine information. I had not been able to sort that out. I read the brochure that lauded its economy and I can attest to that. I drove it from San Diego to Corpus Christi (1400 miles) and averaged 28 mpg with most of the time being 29 to 30 mpg. I didnt expect that from a 15 year old truck.
