Hey guys. I’m Jaedyn my buddies call me Jae. I bought a 89 Ranger xlt 4x4 5 speed a couple years ago for my cousin. She gave it back to me. Little did I know this truck was very unloved. I have always loved Fords and these little rangers are awesome. I know this year truck with the 2.9 is a bit of a mechanical nightmare most of the time but I have only had a few issues come up.
1) it needs so coolant system help so I replaced the water pump thermostat and heater core. Now it warms up like a champ.
2) it needs a new oil pain gasket plus front and rear main seals. Planning on replacing those this summer.
3) last and my only unresolved issue that I have no clue how to fix is the 4x4. It has automatic 4x4 with a switch on the dash. Occasionally as I drive it the lights turn on next to the buttons. Should I be concerned? I’m not mechanic but I know just enough to do some basic things.( basic in my opinion) but I have no clue about checking this 4x4 system to diagnose this issue.

I love this little truck. I also own a second gen 4Runner and I feel like these two trucks are my dream come true. So I really hope you guys can help me with my 4x4 questions.
