New member. Ranger #5 is a 2011 Sport Super Cab 4.0 that I flew to Kentucky to buy and drive home to Fl. Nice truck with 32,250 miles. All previous Rangers were I4 or 3.0. Two were 4x4. Great trucks. This is first 4.0. What a difference. Plan on starting with a cold air kit, and maybe a chip. Not looking for much, just want it to breath a little better. I'm 66 years old, so go fast parts are not a priority anymore. Reliability is key thing now. You cant kill a Ranger unless u try real hard.
Welcome to the forum
You also have rear disc brakes, 2010/11 Rangers came with that
Tell me its a Red Ranger and it would be a "prefect Ranger", lol
You know all fuel injected Rangers, 1986 and up, came with stock cold air intake
The 4.0l SOHC engine(2001-2011 Rangers) use 9.7:1 compression ratio so will ping/knock on 87 octane fuel
So Ford added a Knock sensor to allow it to run on 87 octane, but it does reduce power a bit, if you ever pull a trailer or need a bit more power put in some higher octane fuel, 91 or 93 octane, that will allow computer to run better spark advance
