Hello guys!

So... I’m new to the forum, and english is not my first language, so... sorry for any inconvenience that I may cause in the process of interacting with you guys!

I’m 26, and on my first ranger, my dad had many over the years, so did my uncle and many others in the family, but I’m some sort of a black sheep...

See.. all of my relatives had 4.0 liters V6’s focused on being like light sports trucks, ie sports tires, paired with a tasteful lowering of the suspension and the whole immaculate paint jobs and chromed bumpers.. and mine is a diesel with big chunky off road tires (although it is a RWD truck... so just for looks) and I’m planning on raising the suspension (just a bit) and I love to taint a whole street with my black diesel smoke (I may be a little immature).

For those of you who are not familiar with the diesel rangers we have down in south america, let me introduce a little bit of it to you guys:

mine is the first of the diesel rangers for the brazilian market, it has a 2.5 direct injection turbo diesel, it was made under license by maxion (that was previously perkins, and turned into international right at the time my truck was produced. the same plant that made the 7.3 powerstroke engines back in the day), but the engine is actually a land rover unit, called the 300tdi (in ford trucks it was called the HSD - High Speed Diesel). These engines are not powerhouses as such, but they get the job done, 115bhp, low end torque, mechanical diesel injection, so with some wrenches and screwdrivers you can get more out of the diesel gods, and really frugal with fuel, my ranger did almost 45mpg on my last trip (about 600miles).

After this land rover engines there were the first of the brazilian powerstrokes, nothing to do with the american powerstrokes. it was a slightly bigger (2.8) version of the HSD’s, paired with a better turbo (a variable geometry garret) and later electronic diesel injection, reaching 128 OEM bhp’s, that could be easily bumped over with a few tweeks.

And the last of the 3rd gen diesels was the 3.0 powerstroke. it was a huge update on the later engines, it had DOHC while the others were OHV, it had common rail diesel injection, and a better turbo than the others. These engines could produce between 160 to 180 bhp from factory, which in a light truck, with a 4 cylinder engine is not that bad.

After that the new ranger came along with the same diesel engines that it had in the whole world, so nothing new here.

Anyway, I am happy to be among ranger enthusiasts and gearheads, looking forward to learn as much as possible with you guys, aswell as trying to be useful as I can.

I am thinking of raising the suspension of my truck to fit 33/12.5 tires in the front, and I’m a odontology student on a budget, so any DIY tips would be more than welcome.

Sorry for the big *** text, hope I didn’t bored you guys with that diesel stuff hahaha you guys are more than welcome to text me on instagram (pedro_biscotto).

Cheers all the way from Brazil!
