New Member - Bruce in AZ

Hi all, I am Bruce, and appreciate joining the forum. I've browsed some of the areas that have been linked via google and found some good info and glad to join. I live in Mesa, AZ which is a suburb of Phoenix for those not familiar. I love camping and escaping for weekends as often as I can. I've had trucks prior (Toyota PU, Chevy Silverado), but I bought my first Ranger (2001 XLT) about 18 month ago. Commuting in the summer on a motorcycle in Phoenix just stopped being fun, so figured a second vehicle would be great and I've been missing having a truck. Since I still use it for commuting, I would like to make some mods on the truck that would assist with the camping/off-road functionality.

Some first mods I'm looking at is just getting it a bit taller when having to drive over weather impacted dirt roads. Don't really want to have a lift kit, but other ways to gain height. After that, some overlanding options may be nice (camping in truck bed). The truck isn't a 4x4 and has the 2.5L engine. So no overlanding extremes, but I do like the unbeaten path and getting out there. After that I'd like to see if there are any performance upgrades/tweaks for this engine that may help with getting up long large hills, beyond turning off the A/C that doesn't require an engine swap. It does get old sometimes having to sit in the line of Semi's in the right lane... hahaha.

Anyways, thanks again and look forward to checking out the rest of the forum. If you have any good forum links that could help me, I would appreciate it!

Welcome.
I'm also in the Valley over in Goodyear. I have a 2003, same color as yours. Mine is the extended cab with the flairside bed and the 3.0 6cly.
