Howdy all. I just picked up my first Ranger. It's a 2001 Supercab, with the 3.0 paired to a 5 -speed manual transmission.
I wasn't looking specifically for a Ranger when I bought it. My last truck was a 1st Gen GMC Sonoma regular cab. It was unfortunately totalled, so I needed a new truck to replace it. I found this truck for a relatively good price. It is a fleet truck, so bare bones. It does the job though.
Anyone else from Central Coast Cali?

You have a 3.0l Vulcan engine, this is a high RPM engine, by design, so you need to keep it above 3,000rpm to stay in the power band, best torque/power is at 3,500-3,800rpm
It got the nickname of 3.slow because of this, lol, most engines make best power at 2,500rpm, so if you drive it like "most engines" it will seem gutless
You have an M5OD-R1(M5R1) manual trans
If you replace the spark plugs use regular copper or Double platinum, not single platinum
Ford uses Waste Spark so 2 spark plugs fire at the same time, so one spark plug fires center to tip(normal) and the other fires tip to center(reverse)
So single platinum would wear out the same as regular copper on 3 of the spark plugs, so a waste of money
