New From NC

Hi all, my name is Justin and I'm from the Charlotte, NC area. I just purchased my first ranger around 2 weeks ago from a local dealership. I believe that the previous owner was a member because I can see on my back window where a Ranger-Forums.com - Ford Ranger chat for the regular cab & extended cab. decal used to be. It is an 05 Ranger FX4 Level II, sonic blue. The only thing I have done to it is put a herculiner in it and paint the bead lock rings black because the shade of blue that they were did not match. I was just curious if any of you might recognize the truck and could tell me what all was done to it??? This is my first 4 wheel drive. I'd like to put a new set of shocks on it and I'm confused as to what size I need to get (like for a lifted vehicle??? how much bigger???) I know it has a 3 inch body lift and I believe it has some suspension lift too, I thought maybe someone on here would know if it used to belong to a member of the forums.

Thanks in advance for any help! I look forward to being a part of this.

Hey man thanks for the info. I'm really enjoying it so far. Do you know anything about the truck as far as mods go? I'm trying to find out which suspension lift is on it other than the 3 inch body lift.

I think it just has a body lift, no suspension lift.

Does it still have the air horns?

No the airhorns were taken off. I searched his old posts and he talked a lot about a suspension lift but I'm not sure if he ever went through with it or not. Does the fx4 have blocks under the leaf springs from the factory? Sorry if I sound ignorant, I'm new to this. Any other info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your help!

It should still have blocks, 2" blocks I think. All the suspension is still stock as best as I can tell from looking at his old threads.

Thats what I thought as well, but on the mods on his page it says 3" pro comp lift. It does still have the blocks, I didn't realize those were stock.

It only has a 3 inch body lift. Wonder what he's got now. He was on here 3 days ago...

Anyone know if he did the tbar crank? If so should I still be able to get away with factory replacement shocks?

thanks everybody for the positive feedback. i'm really looking forward to working on the truck myself and being a part of the forums. i fixed up a 2000 mustang gt before this, then i got engaged and had to get rid of it to buy a house / save some money up for the wedding. now the "future wife" (we're getting married next october) is graduating from pharmacy school in may and i finally got the funds together to get a new toy!

i work for Joe Gibbs Racing so I think i'm gonna get some of the chassis fab guys to help me put some bumpers together. I put the bedliner in myself and painted the beadlock rings, next I'm gonna do the shocks because I can tell the driver front is blown (i blew 1 in the mustang and the noise/feel is identical).
