Overall these are good little trucks but there are heads ups for some years and engines
2004-2006 Rangers with 3.0l V6 engines did have exhaust valve issues, head replacement needed
2001-2004 Rangers with 4.0l SOHC engines had timing chain issues, engine has to be pulled to repair

Manual transmission in ANY year is more reliable that any automatic, not specific to Ford or Rangers just a general rule, lol
