New Ranger owner, but old, old Ford guy. Just bought a 2009 Ranger XL standard cab long bed. Pretty much a base with only a/c, auto trans, and a tow package.
Would you believe just under 23,000 miles. The proverbial little old guy and wife. Neighbors that wife and I help. He's in nursing home and she's selling off alot of items.
She would not accept any reasonable amount, but instead basically gave it to me. Truck has been sitting for 4 years, but maintained by a local garage.
It needs a super detailing, but it is basically a new truck. No rust, not one dent, spare never on road, still has original tires. Interior durty/dusty from sitting, but in perfect cond.
Don't think the passenger seat has ever had a butt in it.
Will be taking some pic's on my progress with it, but I'm thinking of just keeping it pure stock. I have enough other cars and a motorhome to play with, so I don't need to mod this one.
Will be lurking

Having trouble down loading some photo's. Is there a # of messages you have to post before photo's will upload?

I didn't think so, but I don't know, someone will come in and give you and me an answer.
How do you attempt to download pictures to the site ?
Using an Apple Computer, I click on the little picture at the top line of the Quick Reply section.
Then I pick the "Browse Your Device" it will go to a section screen and I click on "Photos", (Photos on an Apple Computer is where your photos are stored).
My Photos open and I pick the picture or pictures I want and then hit "Choose" at the bottom of my window.
I am not sure what computer you have, but I can't believe it is much different.
If this doesn't work there is always hit the little picture and Drag and Drop what you want from your Desk Top to the Drag and Drop Screen !
Think I found problem. My pics are loaded as "thumbnails", not images. Have to wait till wife gets home to have her reload em.
I'm "computer dumb"!!!

OK, here's a few pic's from today. Just a few spots where it shows it is a few years old, a few scuffs, 3 paint chips. No rust, interior shows almost as new, frame and under body show no rust at all.

22,980 original miles. Totally stock xcept for bed cover. Has original tires which will be replaced next week.
Has been sitting for the last 4 years with trips to a local garage every 6 months for check ups and whatever was needed.
With exception of a few paint chips, paint is as new, and interior is damn near perfect.
Will also be doing complete fluid changes in next few weeks...think it still has original trans/brake/coolant fluids, but they all still look and smell as new.
I an really considering keeping it totally stock as found....how many 10 year old trucks do you see that still look new?

When vehicles sit for a long time rust and sediment can build up in the bottom of the block and in many cases there is no drain for the block to properly flush things out.
If the coolant is rusty coloured then the following procedure can help with this _ note that this should only be carried out when there is no chance of freezing.
Drain the old coolant as normal and fill with just tap water, drive the truck for a few days or one week _ at least one long trip is better.
Disconnect the bottom rad hose to drain the water, don't use the drain on the rad _ the sudden rush of water helps to get rid of sediment.
Repeat as many times as necessary until the water runs clear, after which you can fill with 50/50 coolant mix.
Note that the heat should be in the hot position when doing this, although with the newer Ford trucks, the coolant is always flowing through the heater matrix all the time.
Coolant still has that nice yellow color, trans fluid still has that nice red color, and brake fluid looks and smells new. It's probable that along with oil/filter changes the garage kept the fluids up to par.
Owner is in a nursing home and was the one who took care of the vehicles. Wife has no idea what was done to maintain the Ranger. If anything, truck was run just enough to maintain seals/gaskets.
Will be changing out all the fluids within next few weeks.. As it sits now, truck runs/drives/shifts/handles like a new vehicle. Runs perfectly.
Been playing with cars/trucks/motorcycles for 55 years, and this is the most"perfect" "used" vehicle I've ever run across.

You did say that although the Truck has sat for four years it was maintained by a local garage... seems ok to assume the truck was driven every so often just to get to the garage.
Hopefully the mechanic was diligent enough to check the fluids, and from what you have said the fluids look good !
Good Luck with it, should last you for a few years.

Thanks Scrambler. Today is title transfer and tag day.
Tomorrow is new tires and inspection day.. Oil change and all filters including fuel is Sat. Next 2 weeks will be fluid change out because of their age..
Have a question I'm posting in the Inline 4 section.

Not sure where you are from, so you might have your tags already, but it may need a little emission work for the inspection.
I'm I the one to help no, but there are a number of people on this site that will be able to help you out.
