Old Ford man, first Ford Truck
Old Ford man, first Ford Truck
My first car was a 74 Gran Torino. I took auto mechanics in HS because it got me out of a half-day of classes. I have been working on my own Fords ever since.
Looking for general info so I can get my new 91 Ranger mechanically sound right now, but I have prided myself on not keeping my projects stock.
I even broke the cardinal rule of cutting into my 72 Torino's dash (got rid of it about a year ago) to install a killer sound system.
My cars have always had a way of finding me, and this Ranger is no different. On the way home from a Sonic trip my 13 YO son spotted it in a driveway.
I paid $950.00 for it.
I have done general tune-up stuff to it for now and I have already had my first bump in the road. A thermostat housing bolt welded itself in what I assume at this point is the intake manifold. After a couple of days in frustration I took it to my mechanic to have it drilled out. That's $100.00 that I could have spent on something else, but that's the way it goes.
