Two weeks ago my 07 ranger passed 250k miles with very little in the way of issues. After bragging about 18 years of ownership to anyone who'd listen, the engine died last night. I'm not looking to buy a new truck but would love some more power. Any suggestions on different engines or mods to a crate engine? BTW, I'm planning to replace the manual transmission, too.
2.3 4 cylinder currently

 

What size engine is in there now?. 4.0L would be better choice.
