I recently acquired the over head console from an 05 Explorer from a junk yard while getting other parts I needed for my 99 Ranger XLT. I was trying to get one from a 99, but they didn't have the right models. Mainly wanted it for the extra lights and a storage space for my sunglasses.
Does anyone know if I can make this work? I put the mounting bracket up just to see, it only has a small gap about in the middle. I also noticed my stock sun visors are slightly too long for it to fit, are there other visors that would fit, or a way to modify my existing ones?
Ive added a picture of the console in question, if anyone has any tips, advice, tricks, or hacks to make this work it would be very appreciated. I plan to do a power window and lock upgrade in the future, and was considering putting the switches where the rear climate controls are now on the console to use the space and not have to change door panels if that's even possible with swapping to powered windows.
I know I could make it work, but it would take me a while to figure out, and I want it to look good still. Thanks in advance
Thank you for replying. I've seen that article and it was what I was going for when I went to the junkyard. The problem is that is a generation 2 explorer OHC, and I have one from a generation 3. Then gen 2 would've been fine with the visors I have, and I didn't think to grab , or like the visors that came with the generation 3. The console I have is significantly wider than I anticipated, to the point it blocks my visors from being able to flip down, and also mounts differently.
My head liner needs to be replaced, so I'm leaning towards taking it out, and seeing if I can move the visors over to make room for it, and figure out the mounting bracket .
