5.0 swap

I have read a little bit about the 5.0 swap. What would be the cost for me to do it DIY.

This is a very vague question.

Do you already have the donor vehicle?

What year truck do you have?

What engine do you currently have?

A 5.0 swap is pretty straightforward if you buy an entire donor vehicle.

Of course, there are gonna be roadblocks, but there are plenty of swap threads to walk you through it

What ever year Explorer was the last to have the 5.0L W, is probably the best… what year was that ?

Another question is are you trying to stay within the local laws ?

99~01 Explorer/Mountie 5.0 were almost identical and the AWD version of these 3 years would be the most compatible donor for a swap into a 2003 4x4 Ranger. There are still a few issues to overcome though - not a 100% P&P / bolt-in swap.

My grandson did a 99 2wd ranger swap, don't do it if you live in CA smog ****'s will get you. He bought a complete exploder from arizona and had multiple problems with wiring and components,ie gas tank hookups different n tanks don't interchange. took a nonrunning 4.0 n now has a V/8 non smoggable ranger suitable for offroad only
