Air comPressor mod?

When my dad had his jeep he had put an air compressor on the engine from a Volvo but I was wondering if it was possible with a ranger? I have a v6 4.0 ohv

I've heard of people converting their ac compressor into an air compressor, but i think you are talking about a belt drivin compressor that is normally for either air breaks or air ride suspension is that correct?

Just hook up an on board air tank under the bed.

ok it was probably for breaks or suspension and you its probably doable but you will most likely need to make a bracket to hold it on the engine and then find a new belt that will fit the new system. Im sure there will be more to it than that but its a start.

He is referring to using a York style A/C compressor. Yes, it can be done, but you might have to get a little bit "creative" with the "how" of mounting it, due to the size of the beast. I have one in the barn that I would LOVE to install, but, the hood is not going to be able to be closed if I do... Maybe I should look in to this a bit more, now that my welder is working again...
