as i was welding stuff to my buddies 9" to put into his jeep, it was laying with the open side up (where the 3rd goes)

and i was thinking.. how hard would it be to make a top loading 3rd member for a 9"?


I personally think it would be fckuing awesome! get some 35 or 40 spline shafts and a top loading 9"... you could easily handle 38s with those shafts, and being a top loader would leave you with gobs more ground clearance..



once again, its probably not possible, but hey.. I can dream, right?

you can't have a u-joint turn 90º lol

the biggest hold back on a build like this would be finding a shop to machine a custom 3rd member and probably gears.

I've never seen how a rock well is built so i don't have the slightest clue where to start.
