Behind window third brake light

I was thinking it would be cool to patch the third brake light hole and put a stripe style third brake light in the rear windows. Like one of those under tailgate light third brake light bars.

Something like this:

And a stripe like this:

or this

I think that would be pretty cool. Prolly only be worth it if you were already shaving door handles and painting the truck and all.

It's a neat idea - you would need to fill the stock hole obviously.

Oh - by the way

Those LEDs SUCK.

Build your own PCB board and use a square array of superflux lumileds. You can include a voltage regulator like I do for low loss over-current protection.

its been done check out the Scion xb boards, they have a kit to convert to a larger behind window light,
but IMO its not worth it because then you have a big **** hole in your roof... why not LED your current high mount brake light?

That's what I did - I have 9 superflux behind there.

I'm going to redo it though, with about 50 or so superflux. I might include a PWM so I can use the 3rd brake light as a running light and a brake light this time. I can't decide.

I've been planning something similar to this for a while now. currently, i have a cadillac third brake light, but it just doesn't go with the look i'm after.
