Bike mount in bed?
Bike mount in bed?
I was thinking about taking the Yakima bike rack I have that's just a U shape to attach to the front forks on a bicycle and bolt it inside the bed of my truck. I was going to weld the nuts undEr the bed so it can be easily removed for hauling purposes. And also maybe sometype of lock to hold down the rear wheel and lock so nobody steals it
Someone makes a kit that bolts a bar to attach your front forks to in the front of the bed, also has locks with it, it was about $40 when I got one about 8 years ago, I don't remember who made it I had it in a F-150 Step side and it worked fine with a Trek...
Here's a couple old pics of mine... I think I paid $10 for it. It's not meant for forks with a 20mm axle but after taking out the rod that holds a regular fork it works fine. I just run a cable and lock through the tiedowns in the bed or through the hitch if I'm going to be away from the truck at all.

I made a "bike rack" like setup for my old Splash Ranger and modified it to fit my 2002 fx4. I made it out of wood and it fits in my bedliner 2x4 notches in the front of the bedliner and also sits on top of the front of the bed. Made the uprights to fit fairly tight against my tires or wheels of the bike. I have 2 setups like this one that holds 4 bikes with 2 bikes close to each bed rail. It has some space in between them for some storage. It's removable and I lock it up to my welded on eyelets through my holddowns. I'll try to take some pics tonight. It works great and is easily removeable. I use to take bmx bikes to nationals and with this rack and some "option" parts I could put 10 bmx bikes on my truck all with racing equipment and coolersand locked up. It was pretty cool.
yeah those wheels are sick! i want to do weld on beedlocks on a wheel like that this summer.
Years ago I used to have a ford accessories one that held into the the front of the bed. Never installed it. Never even opened the box. I got it for my moms 01 edge. It was traded with 8000 kms on it before I got to use it. I wonder where it went ???
For my current ride I will use a hitch mount one to keep the use of the my bed and free and so I don't have to remove my hard tonneau.

Yep it sits on the flat pockets on the bed wall and is bolted to the box. Works out really well
